Parallels simply worked better than VMware for me (and miles better than VirtualBox in both UI and performance). In VMware, it has a "gaming mode" that accelerates the mouse cursor correctly, matching 1:1 movement with how it is on the Mac desktop, but it locked the cursor in the VM window, requiring me to press a key combination to unlock the cursor any time I wanted it back on the Mac side. I could drag my mouse cursor from my Mac desktop to the Windows desktop and back out, seamlessly, without any lag, delays, or the cursor no longer matching 1:1 to my movement.
